Four-player classic Mario action hits the Wii at Nintendo's E3 briefing.
Nintendo demonstrated its upcoming Wii title New Super Mario Bros. at its E3 briefing in Los Angeles. The game features four-player action with drop-in/drop-out multiplayer. It's a reworking of the classic Super Mario Bros. franchise, but it's not a brand-new 3D Mario title as some might have hoped for.
Featuring a cooperative and competitive style of play, New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii will launch this holiday season.
Update: Here's the gameplay demo! It looks fun.
Bryn says: This is not the news I was looking for. Sure, it looks like it'll be a good amount of multiplayer fun, but... meh. I wanted a new Super Mario Galaxy-style affair. Guess there's still time in the press conference...
Fingers crossed.
Update: Wish granted!
