Responding swiftly to rumors that someone somewhere was enjoying a Metallica product with a clear conscience, members of the seminal metal band announced this week that they would begin charging gamers a five-cent charge for each round of Guitar Hero: Metallica they play. The move, which would require owners of the software to collect "convenience fees" from friends and others with whom they share the game, aims to make sure the band receives "full market value" for their work, drummer Lars Ulrich said.

"It's like, the fans got us where we are today," he said. "I literally have more money than God, literally, and I just love the fans for that. But when you take something that you own and feel free to pass it around to people who you feel might like it, that's not rock-and-roll. That's stealing.
