You wanted it, you got it. Genre defining FPS classic GoldenEye 007 is being remade by Activision for the Nintendo Wii, and Bond isn't the only beloved gaming character on the comeback trail. Nintendo is also uncaging Donkey Kong for a new Wii adventure.

Nintendo unveiled the new titles at its E3 press conference today, describing GoldenEye and Donkey Kong as two of its most fan-requested games.

GodenEye 007 has been updated for the Wii, most notably with Daniel Craig taking the tuxedo from Pierce Brosnan, but Nintendo promised Activision is retaining the magic that Rare first unleashed on gamers in 1997 for the N64.

"I remember it, you remember it," Nintendo COO Reggie Fils-Aime said. "But there are people out there today that don't understand the impact GoldenEye had. Now, they'll get to see for themselves."

Multiplayer mayhem and four-player split-screen action are on the way and gamers will take on some of Bond's biggest villains in the single player campaign, including metal-mouthed Jaws and deadly hat throwing Odd Job. GoldenEye 007 is set to launch on the Wii this holiday season. And fans hoping for some classic 2D platforming action with their favorite ape will also get the chance to return to the jungle when Donkey Kong Country returns this holiday season.

Nintendo showed a gameplay trailer of the title, which looks to feature all of the classic gameplay elements fans love, including an appearance by Diddy Kong.

"We have the titles that appeal to all gamers," Fils-Aime said. "And these are two of the games that prove that."

Sharkey says: Finally. It's unfortunate Rare is now a Microsoft studio and won't be able to get back to the game it does best, but even that can't dampen my hopes for the new GoldenEye. After years of disappointing, this was one E3 where Nintendo finally delivered.
